1. The Grand Old Lady
The Grand Old Lady refers to Miri's first oil well, which is situated on Canada Hill. Constructed in 1910, the well was the starting point for Sarawak's oil industry and was in operation for over 60 years. Today, it serves as a historic monument and one of the city's popular tourist attractions, offering an excellent view of the city along with the nearby Petroleum Museum.
2. Niah National Park
Niah National Park is one of the country's best-known natural and historical sites, about an hour from Miri. It houses the Niah Caves, where archaeologists found human remains over 40,000 years ago. The park offers trails through the rainforest, boardwalks, and access to the massive Great Cave, as well as ancient rock paintings. Today, the park is a popular destination for nature lovers, history fans, and adventure seekers.
3. Coco Cabana
Coco Cabana is one of the hot spots along the beaches, situated at Marina Bay, Miri. It boasts an iconic seahorse lighthouse, beautiful sunsets, and a relaxed ocean atmosphere. There are food stalls, cafes, and sunset bars that dot this place, making it one of the most sought-after places to hang around in the evening. Sometime, Coco Cabana also features markets, live music, and festivals, hence the place is both scenic and lively for locals and tourists alike.
